The Best Blogpost In The World -- A Pastiche of "Tribute"

The Best Blogpost In The World - A Tribute

This is not the greatest blog post in the world, no. This is just a tribute. Couldn't remember the greatest blog post in the world, no, no. This is a tribute, oh, to the greatest blog post in the world.

A blog-themed tribute to Tenacious D's song "Tribute" which is arguably their most popular song and was a single from their self-titled debut album released in 2001. The song is a humorous narrative about an encounter with a demon who demands the duo play the "best song in the world," or he'll eat their souls. In a panic, they play the first thing that comes to their minds and it just so happens to be the best song ever. Unfortunately, they can't remember exactly how it went, so "Tribute" is a tribute to that mythical, forgotten song.

(Verse 1)

Long time ago, me and my keyboard here,

We was typing up a storm on the digital frontier.

All of a sudden, there shone a shiny reader,

In the middle of the comments and...

They said:

"Write the best blog post in the world, or I'll leave your site."

(Well, me and my keyboard, we looked at each other,

And we each said... "Alright.")

(Chorus)

And we wrote the first thing that came to our heads,

Just so happened to be,

The best blog post in the world, it was the best blog post in the world.

(Verse 2)

Look into my screen and it's easy to see

One and one make two, two and one make three,

It was destiny.

Once every hundred-thousand posts or so,

When the words do shine and the insights do glow

And the grammar is bold...

(Chorus)

Needless to say, the reader was stunned.

A click-track with his mouse, and the reader was done.

He asked us: "(snort) Be you bloggers?"

And we said, "Nay. We are but writers."

This is not the greatest blog post in the world, no.

This is just a tribute.

Couldn't remember the greatest blog post in the world, no, no.

This is a tribute, oh, to the greatest blog post in the world.
